Safe Communities of Madison and Dane County is an award-winning nonprofit coalition of over 350 organizations working together to save lives, prevent injury, and make the community safer. As a coalition, they employ programs shown by research to effectively tackle the community’s top causes of serious injury.

what we did

We created a custom website to target the nonprofit’s mission to build partnerships with people and organizations to make a safer community. To achieve this mission, it was important to tailor the user experience towards their target audience’s preferences, interests, and behaviors. The end result reflects the non-profit’s commitment to safety and inclusivity.

Problem

Developing a website for a nonprofit like Safe Communities can be challenging due to the volume of different resource materials provided. It was crucial to organize the website’s content logically to create a clear navigation structure for the user. It was also important to choose elements that portrayed a sense of safety towards the target audience, as they may be reaching out about a difficult situation.

Solution

We created a structured and inviting site that caters to a wide variety of community members. The utilization of a dropdown menu provides easier access to a variety of resources that can easily be adjusted to accommodate new additions. The site also encourages members of the community to get involved through buttons located at the top of the screen for donations, contact information, and how to become a member.
